CLASSES OF CONJUNCTIONS
Conjunctions are divided into 2 classes
1. Co-ordinating - Conjunctions joining two statements of equal rank or equal importance.
Example- Birds fly and fish swim.
Chief Co-ordinating Conjunctions are-
And, but, for, or, nor, also, either.....or, neither.....nor
2. Subordinating - Conjunction introducing the dependent or subordinating clause is called a Subordinating Conjunction.
Chief subordinating Conjunctions-
After, because, if, that, though, although, till, before, unless, as, when, where, while
Example- She ran away because she was afraid.
- After the shower was over the sun shone out again.
- You will pass, if you work hard.
CERTAIN WORDS ARE USED BOTH AS PREPOSITIONS AND CONJUNCTIONS
