Form- subject+ had + verb (past participle/V3)
When we have two actions in the past we use past perfect tense to clearly show which action happen first.
Example-
1. When reached the station, the train had left.
means we reached the station after the train had left.
2. I was sick because I had eaten stale rotis the previous night.
So, in the above sentence-- there are two actions
- I was sick and I had eaten stale rotis the previous night.
After eating stale rotis I got sick.
